Goldman Sachs has agreed to acquire Industry Ventures, a $7 billion venture capital firm, in a strategic MOVE to bolster its private equity and alternative investments division. The deal, announced on October 13, 2025, underscores CEO David Solomon's push to deepen the bank's presence in venture capital and secondary markets.

Industry Ventures brings a 24-year track record, with over 1,000 secondary and primary investments since its founding in 2000. The firm has generated an 18% net IRR and 2.2x multiple on invested capital. This acquisition marks one of the most significant VC transactions of the year.

The transaction expands Goldman's alternatives platform at a time when institutional interest in private markets continues growing. "Industry Ventures pioneered venture secondary investing and early-stage hybrid funds," said Solomon, highlighting the firm's niche expertise.
